Unstoppable

Introduction

Mexico City 2020, 3 women who are VERY DIFFERENT but still best friends find themselves in the urgency of escaping their lives due to fulfilling the fake (and patriarchal) expectations that their circles and families have put on them. This literal escapade takes them to Oaxaca where they find another woman, one who’s literally trying to run away from her partner who sold her to pay his drug related debt.

A fast paced show where feminism, class and race collide; all of it while you get a peek into some hard realities that beat women in Mexico.

The show is full of symbolism and very clear problems that, unfortunately, still rule the way of living in Mexico such as cat calling, discrimination, controlling men and women that have to shove things down in order to remain aligned with the social norms.

In the beginning we see very 2D characters, stereotypes of women that fall into cliches, like the perfect daughter, the rich girl that’s into fashion, the feminist that doesn’t shave and go to poetry readings. But as things start to get complicated for them, we see how they show up for one another, and work together to overcome their main obstacle and by doing this they do it also for themselves.

Good comedy that can also bring you to tears, pointing very directly into some of the very normalized forms of violence that us women face, regardless of their geography, status, or education.
